Install English Genius like an app

English Genius is a web app: it installs straight from the browser, with no app store and no big download. Once installed it has its own icon, opens full screen, and games can use the whole screen.

🤖 Android phone or tablet

  1. Open Chrome and go to englishgenius.lk/app.
  2. Log in with the username and password from the student card (or scan its QR code).
  3. Tap the ⋮ menu at the top right of Chrome.
  4. Tap Install app (on some phones it says Add to Home screen).
  5. Tap Install. The English Genius icon appears on your home screen.

🍎 iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Safari (it must be Safari) and go to englishgenius.lk/app.
  2. Tap the Share button: the square with an arrow pointing up, at the bottom (iPhone) or top (iPad).
  3. Scroll down the list and tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Keep the name "English Genius" and tap Add.
  5. Open it from the new icon on the home screen.

💻 Windows, Mac or Chromebook

  1. Open Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge and go to englishgenius.lk/app.
  2. Look at the right end of the address bar for the install icon: a small screen with a down arrow (in Edge: an app icon with a plus).
  3. Click it, then click Install.
  4. English Genius opens in its own window and gets a shortcut in the Start menu, the Dock or the app launcher.
  5. In a game, press the ⛶ button at the top right to play full screen.

💡 If something does not work

  1. No install button? Make sure you are using Chrome or Edge (Android, computers) or Safari (iPhone, iPad), and that the page has finished loading.
  2. Already installed? The browser shows Open in app instead.
  3. To remove it: press and hold the icon (phones) or right-click it (computers), then choose Uninstall or Remove.

Questions parents ask

Is the app free to install?

Yes. Installing is free. A plan is needed to open the lessons, and you can try everything for 7 days first.

Does it use a lot of space?

No. It is much smaller than a normal app, because it is loaded from the web and kept up to date by itself.

Does it work offline?

You need the internet to log in and to load new lessons. Many games keep working if the connection is slow.
